Question

Formatting pendrive via cmd

Jul 21, 2016 10:12AM PDT

I tried formatting my 8gb pendrive via windows. It displayed an error notice. Also an amazing thing to note down is that in properties, it shows the total space to be mere 64 MBs.

As the windows failed to format, I tried doing so with cmd. The following steps were taken:

diskpart
list disk
select disk #
clean

Till now the things were ok but as I typed the next command:
create partition primary

The following error came up:

"No usable free extent could be found. It may be that there is insufficient
free space to create a partition at the specified size and offset. Specify
different size and offset values or don't specify either to create the
maximum sized partition. It may be that the disk is partitioned using the MBR di
sk
partitioning format and the disk contains either 4 primary partitions, (no
more partitions may be created), or 3 primary partitions and one extended
partition, (only logical drives may be created)."

What's happening??? Is the pendrive corrupt?? Could the pendrive not be formatted??

It can be found at a number of different download sites. Small, free download which runs from your comp.

Hope this helps.
