Hi, I had the same problem now. Was a 4 Gig player when I first connected to my PC, but once I formatted it, now only has 109MB.

Did you get an answer on this one?

I have the exact same problem!!!!!!!!

My mock Ipod is supposed to be a 4 gig as well, but it will only store a maximum of about 30 mp3's and then it somehow copies every file stored on it 6 times. I hate this little piece of crap!!! I can't even find a way to hack the firmware or even upgrade it.

Does anybody have ANY IDEAS!!!

Thanks, JL

Why do people keep doing this?

When you formatted your player you wiped out all the software to run your player as well as the songs.

Go to your manufactures web site and down load the latest version of their firmware.

Actually, this is not correct with mine. I can still play songs, however I can only fit 109 Mb of songs instead of 4 Gig of songs.

I've read on a few forums now, people with the same problem, they format their Mp3/Mp4 player or a USB drive, and somehow capacity reduces by a lot.

Anyone know how I can get this lost capacity/space back?

Please read the sticky post at the top of this forum.

And better return the player and get your money back if it doesn't have the 2 Gb you paid for or (what amounts to the same) can't be formatted to the full capacity you paid for, even after reading the manual as advised.
It's a warranty issue then, I'd say. Sony is a reputable make, so I don't expect any problems.

Memory reduction

I feel that you should try the disk formatting tool provided by the manufacturer. and also visit www.s1mp3.org

I have purchased a 512 MP4 Player (F/W 3.5.35).
As soon as i brougt it home i tried copying MP3 Files upto 398 MB. Then Suddenly a message appeared saying the disk is full. after that the copying process aborted leaving some junk files named USB^##&$#&$# Having size 0 bytes and since then i am not able to delete those files. they are eating up a space of around 130 MB. Please help.....

fix for song limitations

Aloha,
create a subfolder called "music" or something, and then add songs to that folder. You will have the full capacity. I don't recall the reason it works, but it works.
