Hi all.
I have another question..
would i be able to format the whole internal memory of my i9195 deleting the operating system and leaving a blank canvas so to speak?? Or is the os write protected?? If i could delete and then reflash a new os would it in theory work?? I only ask this as i have a whole lot of problems and vodafone wont fix my phone due to it being previously rooted

This model looks to be quite old and needs an OS to run phone, apps and on that MIDP.

These devices were low memory but once in a while someone finds them and tries valiantly to get JAVA apps installed. The JAVA apps are usually not targeted to MIDP so it fails over and over and the poor soul loses months searching for help.

Is the os built in with the firmware? Or are they 2 separate things? I am new to smart phones and havent a clue bout em. I know how to use odin and flash firmware, install roms etc its just the workings of the os i am unsure of

For that

You're back in school to learn OS design and more. If learning is the goal we have a lot on the web now. But let me share that I run into a lot of folk that want the Clif notes version without checking the web. I've yet to find a forum that does that since ... we have the web.

Back to this phone. The feeling I get here is you found this old phone and are hoping to get it running JAVA apps and are following the same path to the same dead end as others before you. I don't want to sound condescending here but it is a dead end so the sooner you get there the better.

I wonder why you didn't reveal that up front. My answer would have been to re-root it like you did before.
