Your problem seems to be less with Windows and more with the unknown program. Ok, so what's the program?

Since you formatted your C: drive (and presumably did it correctly) and you still get the error, the problem would most likely not be with Windows XP but rather the software itself.

What is the piece of software giving you the problem, and what does the error message say? Also, does it make you reboot your PC (Is it a "blue screen of death"), or what does it do after the error pops up and you click ok, or cancel (whichever you click)?

Need this information before I can try to 'debug' your situation : )

When I clean out a drive I always delete the partition and creat a new one this has always worked for me. But maybe the program your putting in is bad and you should try to get another one to replace it first. Good luck on any way you do it. buhda
