If so, log in and use it to forcibly change the password. Otherwise, you're looking at using third-party software, such as NTPASSWD (freeware), or reinstalling Windows Vista and starting over as there is no back door.
John
I forgot my password for my Vista 32bit system, and each time I attempt to change to a new password I am asked to put in the recovery disc, which I also misplaced, is there anyway that I can recover my password without erasing my drive. Or will it be necessary for me to reformat that portion of my HD to access it. Oh did I forget to mention that it's on a shared drive, which I repartitioned earlier! Then I downloaded all my information from my old PC and forgot the PW I used. Help me out someone if you can!
