Forgot Comp Password

Feb 25, 2004 7:58AM PST

Hey,

I was wondering if I could get some help here. I have forgotten the password to one of my work laptops. I was wondering if I could somehow re-set it, or reset the whole computer and reformat it somehow. Its running windows 2000, and is a Toshiba.

Let me know what options I have Happy

You slapped the poster with this in feedback. Poster stated OS and it's a laptop and poster wants to know how to reset the BIOS password. You got a solution? If not, leave it.

I don't own a laptop.

But, desktops require the removal of the CMOS battery and a jumper placed here then back again. Check your user manual or manufacturers website for specific instructions.

Good Luck, Tom

Reset your boot-sequence in your BIOS to have the cd-rom as the first boot device, put your win 2000/recovery disk in, and I believe you should have the option to do a reinstall. Should be spelled out in your user manual and the the Toshiba site.

Many motherboards have a jumper setting which enables/disables boot passwords. Check your documentation
