Have you checked the inertia switch? It should be behind the right kick panel. If it is not tripped, smack it with your fist so it does trip, then reset it. The fuel pump will run for only about 3 seconds when you turn the ignition on. Put a funnel into the gas filler neck and have a helper turn on the ignition. The funnel will act as a hearing aid. Also, if you didn't replace the fuel filter, do so. A plugged filter can burn up a pump.
Hey y'all - first time on here but I'm totally stuck and need some advice.
I have a 2002 ford ranger with 207K.... 2.3 lit, 6 ft box, manual, 2WD
I was almost back from a 110-mile round trip and truck just completely lost gas response. I pulled over and could get it to crank but not turn over - that's where I'm at right now.
I went through a variety of troubleshooting. Turns out hat the whole reason I needed to pull over in the first place was due to a bad alternator. Since then, I have put in a brand new alternator and brand new fuel pump - THE PUMP DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN KEY IN 'ON' POSITION - no activation
I believe that there is an electrical issue somewhere - relay has been replaced and there IS NOT any additional fuse. Do any of y'all have an idea where I need to test here? I am about to go borrow a buddy's voltmeter and my first stop is testing the fuel pump connection. Any advice would be seriously appreciated. Thanks!!!
