for which VZW phone is it easiest to find a cheap USB cable?

Hi,

I just joined b/c my family's plan on Verizon is allowing us to upgrade our phones now. We have no need for mp3, internet, etc. services on our phones. We have never owned camera phones and find that feature appealing. However, I gather that Verizon has disabled all bluetooth OBEX functions on their phones so we can't easily and freely download photos to our computers, forcing us to pay $.25 per photo downloaded...? Is the only "free" solution a USB cable? For which Verizon phone is it easiest to find a cheap USB cable that will work with Mac OS X? We're looking at the cheaper phones [with 2 year contract] like the LG VX5300, VX8300, and Razr. I've noticed that some people seem to like the Motorola 325i for reception. A few weeks ago, Verizon was running a 3 free 325i phones promotion, but now it's for the VX5300. Do you think they will bring back the 325i promotion?

Or is there some way to get around the bluetooth disabling thing?

I'd appreciate any advice. thanks! Happy

disabled bluetooth?

I'm sorry that doesn't make sense. Bluetooth is used for headsets as well and a majority of users probably use it for that purpose. At least every other person I see has a bluetooth headset and is gabbing away with it. Disabling bluetooth would be like cutting off their foot in order to get a disability check of $1 a week. I can't imagine getting a phone without bluetooth capability.

I say switch carriers and get free phones from an online retailer. Free phones without rebates of course. A lot of people on this board seem to think that rebates are never honored. I got my rebates but thats just me. I plan on consolidating to a family plan on Cingular.

I'm carrier agnostic though since I live in a major metro area with great coverage from every carrier.

bluetooth *OBEX* disabled

Bluetooth *OBEX* is disabled by Verizon. about the only thing for which you can use bluetooth is for the headset [on VZW].
