For Verizon Users: LG6100 or the CDM9900 for Battery Life

Oct 21, 2004 9:53AM PDT

If anyone has had any experience with the 6100 for a few days or more (I know this phone just came out recently) would you mind commenting on the battery life? I need to make a decision between keeping my 9900 or going with the LG. I love the 9900 for all its features and functionality, but its sadly lacking big time in battery life. I have to charge it every night after regular use during the day. I'm still within my 15-day Worry Free Guarantee period, but would like some foreknowledge before going into to make the switch if I have to. The rep I spoke to today said I could try the 6100 and if I don't like it, I can switch back to the 9900...but I really don't want to do that. I want to know what I'm getting into before going thru all the hassles. Thanks in advance!

I've recently also been perplexed! However, I have an old Kyocera 2235 phone thru verizon wireless & wanted to upgrade to a new camera phone with a speakerphone etc. One thing that's always bothered me about the old phone was it's poor battery life(charge every nite). Looking at the stat's on paper the trimode CDM9900 looked great, but now V.W. says it's NOT available(even taken off their website). Which might make me think it had problems(one salesperson said it was a limited time deal & another says its old model-Wrong). The drawback of the trimode LG6100 to me is it's poor battery life(180 min talk & ONLY 150 hr. standby), which cause me not to order the LG6100 today. However, I was told theere is an otional longer life battery available for the LG6100 for a whopping $50.00.

I have the CDM9900 and have decided to keep it. The battery life isn't the greatest, but for all its features, it's not bad at all. I had a chance to play with the VX6100 a few days ago, and did some side by side comparisons with my 9900. The interface is pretty much the same as the VX6000 with exception to AMPS coverage and speakerphone...so I wasn't too impressed.

I was considering switching out my 9900 for the 6100, but over the past 2 weeks I've come to love this phone...and am sure I'll keep it. I would say the battery life on the 6100 is comparable to its former 6000, so if you're familiar with the 6000 you can compare the two. The battery life on the 6100 is probably better than the 9900 because the screen resolution is a lot lower and has a B&W outer lcd.

So, in my opinion, go with whatever suits you best!

DO NOT buy the LG 6100. It's a disaster: The battery life sucks. The phone malfunctions often. It's just unacceptable that Verizon offers this to customers. I just switched to the boring, dependable, and cheap Nokia 6015i.
