Since a jpeg is a bitmap, there is no font referenced in the image.
BUT HERE'S A SOLUTION TO YOUR ISSUE. You need a better drawing program. One that does what they call layers. When you put the new text on a new layer then you get the effect you wanted.

Is there a way to figure out what font is being used on a jpeg file I am working on? Also,is there an easier, more efficient way to change text on the same jpeg? I am using Irfanview where u use a rectangle first and then insert text within that rectangle. Often when I place the rectangle it erases some of the above text.(even 'tho i am careful not to touch it with the rectangle)Perhaps there is another program I could use??? I tried cutting and pasting this jpeg file into Windows office because there program is way more detailed esp. with fonts and sizing and all but,I couldn't seem to make the text thing work. I would appreciate any and all assistance as I really am a novice with both these programs. Thankyou
