font changing

Mar 13, 2004 3:57PM PST

I had to have my harddrive erased and started over can't find where to get the fonts the size I want. The bar across the bottom of the screen is to small and when I click the start button the menus are really small. I have gone to properties and settings and its set aat 800x600 and when I go to 640x480 it is way to big. I use Family Tree Maker and can hardly read the names on my family pages. Thanks

Did you reinstall the video-drivers? I suppose so, because you can get 800x600 resolution, but it's a common oversight.
You can set visual properties of the desktop by clicking on an empty place on it, then choose properties.
There's a tab name 'appearance' or 'lay-out' (I don't know the English term) where you can set the scheme for the desktop (mine is Windows-standard) and can change individual items like font size and color.
The 'settings' tab sets the resolution and also the standard size of all fonts (you can choose between 'small', 'big' or 'other' to map a specified font size to any size on the screen you want).

Play around with these settings until you find a combination you like.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Kees. I had noticed the font menu but could not get into it. This time I played around with the menu above until the font menu opened. I won't have to squint to see anymore.
