Folk ask about low light a lot. Here's a few LL pics.

This I used flash and a tripod.

No Flash, tripod but exposure time is 1 second.

Without the tripod, all are blurry so the advice about low light has sometimes left out the need for a tripod.

The subject in the photos seemed to want to work with me a little.

Camera: Canon t3i
Lens: Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II Telephoto Zoom Lens
Tripod: Sunpak Quantaray QSX 9502TM

Low light pictures are possible with many cameras but without a tripod my experience is that they will all smear.

And a few more. Moon shots.

For the Moon shots I really need to use a remote release or trigger as pressing the button caused a little blur.
