Question

Folders Access Denied

Aug 6, 2014 2:53AM PDT

My Dell Laptop is less than a year old, using Windows 7, 64 bit OS. A few months ago My Music, Pictures & Videos Folders stopped opening: "Is not accessible. Access is Denied." I am the only user and believe I have Administrative user enabled, but not sure. Does anyone know how I can get access back? Hopefully without having to reload Windows.

For your own My Music (inside your profile) you don't need to be administrator. Non-administrator users can access their own data.
So somerthiing is wrong.

What I should do: make 2 new administratior users in Control Panel (one for dasily use, the second for emergencies if the first one is corrupted. If the one for daily use is fine, copy all your data from your current profile and delete that.

"no single word is written by me originally posted by microsoft "

If you get a message denying access when you try to open a file, here are some options you can try:

Check the permissions of the file or of the folder the file is saved in. Here's how:

Right-click the file or folder, and then click Properties.

Click the Security tab.

Under Group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you have.

To open a file, you need to have read permission. For more information on permissions, see What are permissions?

Check to see if the file is encrypted. Here's how:

Right-click the file, and then click Properties.

Click the General tab, and then click Advanced.

If the Encrypt contents to secure data check box is selected, you need the certificate that was used to encrypt the file to open it.

You should get the certificate from the person who created the file.
