Which program was it?

There may be a way to decrypt your files, but we need to know the name of the program you used. Unfortunately it may also be the case that the only way to decrypt them is to purchase the software, which is why you never want to test software on mission-critical files.

Let us know.

Problem with password protected folder
Dec 24, 2009 10:27PM PST

I used Password Protect USB .v3.6.1 to protect important files and now it wont unlock the folder, I have locked another folder and it unlocks it no problem. I am in pieces here trying to get it open again. If I put the wrong password to unlock it, it says wrong password but when I put the right password in it just blinks and wont unlock it. Please please help me.

I can't find out who developed this

All I get from Googling Password Protect USB .v3.6.1 are rapidshare, Pirate Bay, and other torrent downloads.

if you know the makers/developers, then since you paid for the product your best bet is to contact them, (visit their web site), and seek their help.

Re: rapidshare

Rapidshare is just a service that stores files for people who want to distribute them by sending a download link to their friends or customers or whoever they want to have access to the file. Anyway, that is what they say.

If the software doesn't tell anything about who made it and who supports it, all you can do is ask the one who sent you that download link if he happens to know.

And, yes, it makes some sense to have an unencrypted backup of files you don't want to lose if something happens with the software or the PC. Didn't you make one?

And a note on Rapidshare...
Dec 28, 2009 4:06AM PST

It is designed for use by anyone for any purpose, but unfortunately it is primarily used as a distributor of hacked/pirated/stolen/malicious software and files. Also keep in mind that if it is pirated software, you may still be held responsible for downloading/using it, even if you are unaware of its legal status. Thus, you should be extremely cautious of anything you download via Rapidshare unless you actually know the person/company who uploaded the file(s).

"purchase the software" should work.

If not then you paid them and they get to support you.
