As long as you exchange this drive with other machines this issue should keep repeating. No company has created a rock solid solution to sharing a drive across many machines without any issues using some USB hard drive.
The lesson is simple. Keep a backup copy.
And why didn't these things have a write protect switch?
This Problem happened 2 times for me. The first time I thought it was my mistake but this time I'm certain that something is wrong!
This is The case:
I have a 500 GB Passport External HDD (W.D) that I parted it into two same size drive. First Drive with NTFS Format and Second one with HFS+ (Macintosh Format). This is why I have a Macbookpro and also I need to use windows on other computers. on my laptop I use the paragon NTFS driver to have writing access to NTFS Partition.
The problem is: I have a folder on root of my NTFS drive. I had files of a friend of mine on it. I worked on it on my PC at home (using Win7). about 60 MB files and folders was inside that folder. Today I wanted to show the files to someone I opened up the folder and boom; It was EMPTY!!! nothing inside!! Nothing Hidden!!! 0 Bytes and Completely EMPTY!!
What is this problem??? This is second time, previously same thing happened to another folder on this HDD.
Please Help, I want to stop this thing happening.
