General discussion

focal length

Jun 22, 2010 6:07PM PDT

Hi all,

I just bought a Canon Legria FS21 and am a bit confused by the zoom behaviour. Even if I zoom fully out it seems to still be zoomed in a bit.

Not sure how the calculation works, but to capture a 30cm object vertically I have to move 65cm away from the object when fully zoomed out. Does this sound right for a focal length of 2.6-96.2mm?

Even filming your own face is hard with a fully extended arm. Would be great to hear if anyone else had a similar experiences or if my camera might be faulty.
Thanks,
Deniz
