FML: Too many problems: look in discussion (MSI card)

Mar 16, 2017 7:49PM PDT

God. Here's a list. I'm going to try and name everything that's just driving me nuts on my PC. Here goes. (sorted from most annoying to least annoying) ALSO: all of these vary, sometimes they happen sometimes they don't.

- MSI RX 480Card will have fans go full throttle sometimes during GTA
- Monitor has crazy speaker static (HP envy 34c)
- Monitor goes black sometimes and the only way to fix that is to restart PC
- Toms hardware won't let me post a forum because when I go to describe the thread it closes that and tells me to be more specific
- Zero Frozr doesn't work sometimes
- Razer Synapse will choose speakers over headphones for Razer Surround
- Razer Surround will also sometimes have headphones do communication and have speakers do game volume.
- CAM says that my GPU is always at 100% load even at idle or just web browsing
- CAM also says that my GPU temps are also pretty high, almost at the sixties in idle or web browsing
- PowerDirector 12 will just randomly get rid of the audio of a clip or movie (it came with an external disk drive so...)
- MSI gaming app won't run in the background
- Don't have any idea how to get all new downloads to go to my D: drive, not my C: drive
- C: drive is extremely clogged up
- MSI afterburner site won't load
- Graphics card makes weird hissing noise sometimes

Whoof... I think that's it. Is this common for custom built gaming pcs. Also basically everyone's support is trash... Thermaltake was at first but then they were fine. Everyone else's SUCKS... especially MSI and HP. Also, does anyone know of a good way to transfer files between an iPhone and Windows?

Thanks any help would... help.

I'd start over.

This setup/build is obviously a bomb. The monitor speakers are junk so you have to decide to replace or not.

I don't find "support" for products here. It's from the place you paid or the maker. Support means they replace broken stuff or refund what is bad (that monitor for example.) Some folk hit forums and demand support but get blown off because that's not where you get solid support.

That said, looks like a poor build. Try again but change motherboard and monitor. As to the fans those are tied to heat so I have to share a story of a person that build the gaming PC in a tiny case. They complained the fans went to max a lot.

Cant do that

Definitely can't start over. By support, I mean help with fixing the issue, not a refund. CAM works after an update, and I think HP will refund my monitor. Does anyone know any fixes in terms of software? because I can't start over with a clean install...

And there it is.

One the awful issues of the Windows PCs is that once in a while the only fix is to start over. Many folk didn't plan for this and end up burning mad that no one can fix their PC whether it be a hardware or software issue.

Bottomline? You paid folk so go get them to fix it or refund it.

I've seen this time and time again. It's costly to take it in to a shop to straighten out. Our office does this for 150USD per hour plus parts. We will reinstall the OS if we deem it necessary and if the client refuses that, we don't start work until they relent.

Sounds harsh but this is the current state of Windows and custom PCs.

As to Zero Frozr, read https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/57sw0w/should_i_enable_or_disable_zero_frozr_technology/ as they kick it around. Seems optional to me after reading that. Notice the response about the fans?

Also try a common thing. Disable fast startup in the BIOS and Windows. Here's a link:
https://www.howtogeek.com/243901/the-pros-and-cons-of-windows-10s-fast-startup-mode/

-> I've seen your story before. When you start with a problem PC, it tends to remain problematic until the bad parts are changed out.
