My friends dad was getting his piolots license and wanted some extra practice hours... he went all out and got the pedals a yoke with throttle control and mixture control with all sorts of buttons on it and he spent about $150. I'm also getting my pilots license but do not have $150 to throw around on something like that so I boght the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro from my local Wal-Mart. I think it was around $30. It has a third axis for rudder control and I think its great. It all depends on how into it you are going to get and how much money you have to spend.
I'm planning on getting MS Flight Simulator 2004 (which, granted, has been out for a while). I was wondering what peripherals I need/should get. I'm thinking at the very least a joystick of some sort. but what about rudder pedals and so forth? are they really necessary? If so, which should I get? any recommendations? I wish to spend as little as possible.
Also, what would be a decent joystick for flight sims? I don't want to pay a lot ($50 at most). Thanks!
