I know it's a big problem WITH THE NEW IMACS APPLE WON'T HELP ME IT DIDN'T SHIP WITH IT INSTALLED IN A WORKING CONDITION- why did i spend the extra $169 for 3 years of ''support'' if they ''arn't trained to deal with common problems?? What's up with that? I also know there is an extractor fix called Pacifist, and i tried it but couldn't understand the details HELP! MABYE I COULD DOWNLOAD FLASH 7 ??? erase and re-install? my kids are crying cause they can't view their ''polly pockets'' website please help me . Rock sorry about the whining like my kids, but their little hearts are broken - I made them get rid of their old E-Machine their grandmother gave them, that was always having problems- I said we would get a MAC cause they don't ''break'' like windowa machines. Now I look like a liar and a fool to my 6 year old and especially to my 10 years old daughter. Some one please help me.
Rock, the Stupid idiot dad.

Slow down, take a deep breath, fire up Safari, go to the Macromedia Web site and download the Flash player for OS X.
Do NOT consider and erase and reinstall at this point, that's a very drastic move and if Flash is not "factory installed" will not make any difference at all.
Who said there was an "incompatibility" with Flash/Shockwave?
Does the Flash Player ship already installed on the new iMacs or is it something that has always been a user install.
Pacifist is a program that will allow you to extract packages (.pkg) from within an Installer or Restore program and really have nothing to do with your problem as you have stated it. Leave it alone.
You paid for Apple Care so that any hardware failures on your machine would be covered and you could get them fixed for free. AppleCare does not cover software problems, especially with software from a third party. It "may" cover all the software that was installed originally but, for example, wouldn't Intuit be better suited to sort out a Quicken problem, than Apple.

So, download it and let us know how you got on

INTEL DUO CORE IMAC Rosetta/ Flash Shockwave-reply
Feb 21, 2006 7:46AM PST

ok i did everything you wrote -- it downloaded FLASH for OS X but it would not recognize it- so i called apple again and we all decided that i should run my system under "Rosetta" for now until a "fix" is in place- it now works fine- i was afraid the computer would run slower but it does not - They are well aware of the problem and a "universal" fix will be coming out in March from macromedia - thank you for your help- Rock

I wasn't aware of the problem with the Flash player but I'm pleased that there will be a fix soon.
I'm not sure what you, or Apple, mean by running your system under Rosetta until a fix is in place. Your system will only run the OS (system) as native as the OS is already Universal.

Either way, glad to hear you are up and running and that the dreaded Erase and Install did not have to happen
