Clicking could be a sign of having not enough power. That's easy to solve using a powered hub and a Y-cable (with 2 USB-connectors on the PC site). Also, sometimes it simply starts working when connecting it to another PC.
If none of the two work it's a hardware issue. Then take the disk out of the enclosure and put it into another one or connect it via a USB to SATA-IDE cable.
If even that doesn't work (and there's a good chance it doesn't) you need to find a reliable data recovery company. I can't recommend any in Mozambique alas (although it's quite well possible there are). But some international chains (like drivesavers.com or krollontrack.com) certainly can do it if you send them the disk.
Not having a backup means you deliberately took the risk to loose that data or pay a lot for recovery. That's your own choice. It wouldn't have been mine.

Hi.
I have a external HDD that started clicking everytime I plug it into the pc. I have a Hp dx2930 Compaq Micro tower running on Windows 7 Ultimate. The pc asks me to format the HDD everytime I plug it in, but I can't because my work Data is there and I do not have a backup. So I have 2 questions..
1 - After some googling I saw that replacing the circuit board would solve the problem, but I live in Mozambique and I do not know how to get one here. None of the shops have one and I can't find an online store that can DHL the board to me.
2 - If I do format the HDD, how can I recover the data??
the HDD is a Toshiba, stor.e Alu 2.5 " also known as Toshiba MK6459GSX
thank you
