Fix my HP officejet 6500

My printer keeps saying that the printhead is missing or damaged. What is the printhead and what can i do to fix it?

It could be in warranty.

I see this printer began sales around October 23, 2010. Why would you not have HP fix it?

What HP call's a printhead some people call a cartridge. It's what you buy when you ran out ink. Maybe yours is gone missing or damaged?
If replacing it by a new one doesn't help the printer needs repair. You only know after trying. Be sure to do that before the warranty ends. is just an example (probably not for your printer)
