Fix my HP officejet 6500

My printer keeps saying that the printhead is missing or damaged. What is the printhead and what can i do to fix it?

It could be in warranty.

I see this printer began sales around October 23, 2010. Why would you not have HP fix it?

What HP call's a printhead some people call a cartridge. It's what you buy when you ran out ink. Maybe yours is gone missing or damaged?
If replacing it by a new one doesn't help the printer needs repair. You only know after trying. Be sure to do that before the warranty ends.
