First widget ever?

Howdy all! Does anyone know what was the first widget to show up on the web? Thanks!

But the earliest generation of widgets were the link counters (how many had visited) and advertising banners, the latter of which are probably still the most common

hello there,

the first widget i think is the search form... then come the other widgets on the flow.. but if you focuse about selling ads space so the first widget must an advertising banners (4 slots of 125x125).. and if you focuse about social networking so the first widget is a facebook page, google+ page and so on...
