First Time DVD Burner

Feb 8, 2009 9:52AM PST

When burning a movie to a dvd from your computer what specifications should I be using? I know the software says something about ratio of 4:3 and 16:9 and NTSC or PAL. This is my first time burning a dvd so any advice would be helpful, thanks.

All I can advice at the moment:
- use a DVD-RW in stead of a DVD-R or a DVD+R, so you can redo it on the same disk if you're not happy with the result
- use 4:3 if the original is 4:3, use 16:9 if the original is 16:9
- use PAL if your TV is PAL (Europe), use NTSC if your TV is NTSC (USA)

And it might help to tell WHICH software you are using.

will convert X to DVD software help the following situation?
Mar 10, 2009 7:35AM PDT

I run WinXP SP3 on a Lenovo SL-500, model#2746-73U. Today
I downloaded a stable G-Parted ISO file and burned it to create a
live bootable DVD, but it won't run, even when I reboot and
change the CMOS boot order to prioritize the CD/DVD drive.
I checked on my D drive, and it showed that the G-parted
files were successfully burned onto the DVD.

This was my first attempt to burn an ISO file to DVD.
