First PC Boot, Monitor goes to sleep mode?

by vikestackle / April 5, 2009 2:09 PM PDT

I just finished putting together my computer.

Hooked Monitor up to the motherboard and powered up.

Monitor directly goes into sleep mode.

Tried another, older, monitor.

Same thing.

Fans running lights going, CD Drive working, everything is powered up but nothing on the screen.

Any Ideas? any additional information you need from me i can provide thank you.

by Techie_Master / April 5, 2009 7:56 PM PDT

Do you hear any booting sound?

For self check you can do these steps:
1. Take out RAM Stick and clean the dust.
2. Clean the Mother Board also by using Blower.
3. If you have knowledge about How to install CPU. please clean the dust also of CPU.
4. Try to check graphic CARD if you have PCI CARD.

What Type Of Graphics Card And Will It Start In Safe Mode?
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / April 6, 2009 5:03 AM PDT

Is the operating system installed yet? If so, will the screen display in Safe Mode?

More information from you is needed to clarify a few things.. Integrated graphics or separate graphics card? Type of monitor cable/port being used?

Just some thoughts below:

If there's no operating system installed and you don't get the POST display, then you only have a couple of possibilities.. Try swapping in a different cable and make sure the cable is plugged into the correct port on the back of the computer... If you're using intergrated graphics and you plug the cable directly into the motherboard port and nothing can make it work, then you could attempt to install a separate graphics card or simply return the motherboard because the onboard graphics have probably failed.

Hope this helps.

Grif

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
