Firmware upgrade

Nov 8, 2008 5:48AM PST

I saw samsung had a firmware upgrade on their website for my 52" LCD (LN52A530P1F). I figured the newer the better so I installed it. After instal it won't pick up any channels, air or cable. Is there a way to downgrade the firmware to it's original settings?

firmware upgrade

I have a LN32A550 and just upgraded my firmware and am having the same problem. How did you fix yours to have the cable stations auto program and come back in after the upgrade?

none

I was told not to do this but did anyway. Turn your TV off. On your remote press mute,1,8,2,power. It will turn on and open the system settings. use the arrow and enter keys to scroll around, the menu key goes back (on mine anyway). I just went to factory reset and it worked. but you'll also see a tuner setting in there. I noticed that changed after the factory reset so maybe you just need to change the tuner setting, I'm not sure. Good luck.

Service Menu....
Nov 11, 2008 7:33AM PST

I can't tell you that because the Service Menu should only be accessed by Certified technicians.

I don't recommend posting the menu key online to get there, or using it, unless YOU know exactly what you're doing and why. And even then, consider your source of information. In this case, it worked out.

It is ALWAYS my policy to discourage entering the service menu. It will never, never, never be an option I endorse.

Firmware
Nov 11, 2008 7:43AM PST

Understood... In my case the firmware upgrade changed the setting of the tuner on my ln32a550. I thought the upgrade failed and my tv was hosed. The fix action was to go to the service menu and change the setting of the tuner back. Worked like a charm. I hope I saved Samsung a service call warranty fee. Thanks again for the info...

No worries.

Doublejdog,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You went in and you changed your tuner's settings back, and that fixed the problem?

Or did you perform the reset, and that fixed the problem?

settings
Nov 11, 2008 8:16AM PST

I found the tuner setting in the service menu and changed it to the only other setting. After exiting the menu all operations returned to normal. To be safe I performed another auto channel program. All channels were available. I then went back to the service menu and did a full system reset to see if the tuner would change to the wrong setting and it did not. Lastly I checked the firmware version and it was the latest I upgraded from the website, 1006.1...

samsung hlt5075sx not storing input names
Nov 21, 2009 7:52AM PST

Samsung_HD_Tech, I have a samsung hlt5075sx. The inputs menu allows the inputs to be renamed, but my tv won't store them. I would hope that reloading the current software might fix this issue. I have asked samsung's chat tech for a current software update set to load by USB. They don't seem to have even the current software update to give me. Can you help? Is there a way to do what I want from the service menu?

I did the same thing with my 52 and can't receive any channels anymore. I tried the 1, 8, 2 thing with no joy. Very disconcerting.

It's:

Power OFF the TV
Press MUTE
Then - 1 -8 -2
Press POWER

Power off the TV again to exit it.
