Firmware Updates LN750 series v. 1012.2 (US) and 2003.2 (CD)

Oct 21, 2008 8:29AM PDT

I noticed that new firmware updates are available on both the US and Canadian sites. Are these the same as the revised 1009.1 version that was posted on the weekend to fix the content problem, or do they address anything additional?

Also, the US site says that v 1012.2 is for the US only and I was wondering what the reason for that might be.

Thanks.

Updates... and all that jazz...
Oct 21, 2008 1:02PM PDT

Daggodag,

The revert for 1009.1 was just that - a revert to that firmware's exact version of feature-sets. If we changed anything that was in that set, we'd have had to change the version number altogether.

So before or after, 1009.1 does exactly the same thing for your set.

1012.2 is for the U.S. version only.

As to your answer of why? Simply put, each region is different. That's a very crude summary, but ponder this; the world can't even agree on a standard of plug to stick in the wall. Neither can a one-fix-fixes-all standard be applied equally.

It sure would be nice and convenient if they could, though! Happy

Problem with 2003.2 firmware-Content Gone Again
Oct 24, 2008 10:26AM PDT

Well, against my better judgment, I installed Firmware 2003.2 from the Canadian site, and the content and product guide disappeared again, just as it did with version 2002? Why would they upgrade from 2002 to 2003 and keep the same error that you worked so hard fixing last weekend?

You mean after all that....??

I'm beginning to sense a new trend I'm going to coin as "Firmware Fridays". Grin

Dag, is your set U.S. or Canadian?

Canadian firmware 2003.2
Oct 25, 2008 12:36AM PDT

I am in Canada, so I installed 2003 from the Canadian site. From what I can tell from other forums, the difference in the US and CD versions relates to regional RSS feeds for InfoLink. The US 1012 and CD 2003 firmware updates would try to fix the problems that the previous 2002 version (that was on both US and CD sites) tried to fix, except that the content removal issue would not happen.

I successfully reverted to 1009.1 again using the version you created last weekend, so no problems for now, but I am beginning to get a bit gun-shy of any trying any new updates until they have been posted for a while and any problems are worked out.

Whew.
Oct 25, 2008 3:15PM PDT

I thought when you posted that you were updating a U.S. set!

Oh, whew. I was gonna say...! Grin

So 2002.0 and the new 2003.2 - both of them pretty much disable the Content Library?

2003.2

That's right. The new version 2003.2 on the Canadian site also eliminates the content library just like the old 2002 did.

Thanks for the info.

I'll send that over so that it's on the proper inboxes first thing tomorrow.

Revert US LN750 to version 1011 (plz!)
Dec 24, 2008 12:27AM PST

I noticed that you posted a firmware reversal in this thread. Can you PLEASE post the version for US LN750 sets prior to version 1012.2? I think it's version 1011. I lost the ability for the TV HDMI inputs to port dolby digital sound to the optical output when I updated to 1012.2 and would very much like to go back one version. Thanks in advance if you can help me.

Revert US LN750 to version 1011 (plz!)
Dec 24, 2008 9:58AM PST

Mr. Samsung, you are currently helping me in a different thread with reverting backwards from version 1012.2 on the LN750. Thank you for that help and please disregard my above request in this thread. For completeness, I will post the results of our efforts from the other thread in this one after we're done...successful or not. Thx!

On the remote control, press the "Exit" button for about 10 seconds. It will give you the option to reset to defaults.

3D picture..

You shouldn't be seeing a 3D picture at all.

If that reset didn't work, the last resort is to call service and have a technician look at it. I just don't have any other solutions.

Keep me posted.

Does 2003.2 firmware disable Content Library?
Jan 2, 2009 1:17AM PST

I have LN40A750. Current firmware is 1009.1, date 2008-07-10.
I am in Canada, so I understand that I would need to update the firmware to be able to use Infolink to access Canadian information. The Samsung Canada download page shows latest firmware available as:

2003.2
FM/200811/20081111132638968/T-RBYAUSC.exe
(size : 298579 KBytes / updated : 2008-11-12 )

However, I read in this forum and other forums that installing 2003.2 may disable the Content Library. Is that still the case?

If I install 2003.2 to access Canadian weather, will that disable the Content Library?

If 2003.2 disables the Content Library, when will Samsung issue revised firmware to correct this issue for Canadian owners?

Does firmware upgrade revert all settings to defaults?
Jan 4, 2009 11:17PM PST

Thank you, that's very useful information.

Do you know if installing this firmware causes calibration settings (e.g. backlight, sharpness, contrast, etc.) to revert to factory defaults? If it does, then I'll take time to record my current settings before updating the firmware, so that I can quickly re-do the settings.

Yes
Jan 6, 2009 11:41PM PST

Alan,

Yes, updating the firmware essentially resets all of the settings, including picture, audio, programmed channels, and including any calibrations that were performed on the television.

Typically, if you're not experiencing problems, I don't recommend updating the television, but of course that's up to you.

Canadian user wants Canadian Infolink content
Jan 7, 2009 1:52AM PST

Perhaps you didn't read my earlier post. I am in Canada, so I would like access to Canadian information with my Infolink. Unfortunately my Canadian-bought set came with the U.S. firmware so it connects only to U.S. information.

I'm not having an problems with the set, other than that I cannot access Canadian Infolink information. That's why I would like to update the firmware.
