It's not what you thing PIA stands for.
http://www.thinkdigital.gr/web/files/richeditor/filemanager/140204_Samsung_Pia.pdf and other finds that Samsung wants to use the platform for their own end. "PIA is an advertising area located in the Smart Hub, Samsung SmartTV’s home screen that all users have to visit in
order to access SmartTV contents. Ads displayed in PIA will be shown to all Samsung SmartTV users, every time they access Smart Hub.
If the users clicks on the PIA ad, a full screen landing page expands, delivering more information with greater interactivity!"
This seems to spill over into what you are complaining about.
Frankly if the maker does this, does not deliver the experience you want, I give the advice to return the defective, doesn't fit the need of the user device.
Yes, that's right.
Hi there,
Since having the new firmware forced on my TV a few days ago, my 'Smart Hub' is next to useless. I have an external hard drive connected, with all my media on it, and I used to rely on the 'Recent' view to be able to quickly get to the stuff I had been recently watching.
With the new update I have lost a tab, and now get a "Multimedia" view which is populated by page after page of the YouTube videos that Samsung seem to think I should watch - meaning I have to manually go through the folders on my drive to get back to what I was previously watching, and I have to remember which of the many episodes on my favourite TV shows I was on when I last watched one.
Please, please, please for the love of everything, can sombody tell me how the hell I can put the old firmware on which worked for me, or how I can get back the old 'recent' screen?
I don't need Samsung to force YouTube videos down my throat - I can find what I want on my Android devices and ChromeCast them to the TV if I want them.
Thank you.
