Last or Second to last option.
Dec 23, 2008 4:02AM PST

metavisor,

Under the setup menu, the SW Upgrade option is the last, or second to last option available. When you scroll down to the bottom options in the Setup menu, keep pushing the scroll down button and you should see it.

You're in the right spot.....
Dec 23, 2008 7:26AM PST

Metavisor,

Well, you're in the right spot. I don't know why you don't have an option to upgrade.

Here's something close to what it's supposed to look like:

But if you can't see it, I might suggest scheduling a service call to have a technician come out and fix that for you. If you like that idea, call 800-SAMSUNG (US) and we can schedule that.

Metavisor,

Each region has its own support center, however its a good idea to check with your local service center for assistance.

I did not find a firmware, but here is the support number for the center in Columbia.

They should be able to help.

Merry Christmas!

Will this improve my TV substantially?
Jan 2, 2009 9:39AM PST

Hello all,

I just bought this TV for $699.00 and thought I got a great deal. Straight out of the box I can now see what people are talking about. This TV needs to be tweaked. Or does it? How can I tell if I need it? I mean, does the manufacturing date have anything to do with whether or not you need to upgrade the firmware?

Any problems?

Kyprose,

Thanks for purchasing a Samsung!

If you're not experiencing any connection issues, I would not recommend the firmware updates. There are no additional features, or picture tweaks that I know of.

You may want to consider a calibration disc for your DVD/Blu-Ray player to improve the settings (tweak), but if you unit is in otherwise good condition with connections, the firmware update isn't necessary and I don't necessarily recommend it.

If you still want to do it, I'll point you in the direction.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I actually figured out what version number I had. I do in fact have update 6.0.1 or whatever it is. In any case, it is the most recent update.

What's this with the DVD now?

What is a "Calibration disk" and what does it do?

Calibration Disc
Jan 7, 2009 12:21AM PST

KyprosE,

A calibration disc is a disc you can purchase that will walk you through your television settings with pictures.

While they don't take the place of a traditional calibration performed by an expert, it is a cost effective way to for many people who want to get a better picture.

They can be found online and in some retail stores, and several users here have noted positive results.
