Firewall Question

by skyemacm / January 19, 2006 7:48 PM PST

I have been using software firewalls to this point with WINDOWS XP and dial-up service. One is part of the Norton Internet Security Suite (free on computer for 6 months) on on computer and Zone Alarm on the other.

I am signing up for DSL service and will be adding a router which also has a firewall.

My question is can I run both the hardware firewall in the router and the software firewall on my computers?

Or, is it only the router firewall or the software firewall, but not both? If this is the case which is better? Hardware or software firewall?

Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
