A pest on the machine had hijacked the Windows tcpip sockets. Today, I am trying EWIDO, WINSOCKXPFIX to detect, eject and repair XP Windows sockets and settings. At no time did I need to download ssleay32.dll or any other dll.
Best of luck in the recovery room.

I am absolutely disgusted with Norton, again. This time, trying to install Norton Internet Security, it failed to install, so I was taken on the merry-go-round of help documents (all of which require MY time to compensate for THEIR inability to write software that can be easily installed). This is about the 4th time this has happened, but it's one too many.
I tried to download the basic free ZoneAlarm to try it, but it required me to find and download ssleay32.dll, which I did. Then it had problems with its own Vector Engine which it could not solve, so that's a no-go.
Now I'm in my 5th day without a firewall and tired. Suggestions?
