Firewall help !

I'm thinking about installing the free download of Zone Alarm firewall, and was wondering if it is difficult to use ? I do a lot of playing games on the internet, and do some searching also.
I have Windows-XP Pro, 40 gig HD, 1000 megahertz AMD processor,384 megs of ram. I also have Norton 2003 Pro Antivirus running. Is this firewall hard to use with all the sites I go to ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions !

It's very simple to use. Once you're prompted for a pgm. to access the www, either just allow it or select to always be allowed. That way you're not brothered thus after awhile you won't brothered all since much of the common pgms. have access. Any *new* pgms. will need to checked, so you have the opportunity to see what's going on for those pgms. before granting access wanting to be on the www.

It is a great firewall.

I have been using the free version for almost 4 years without any issues.

It is very effective and user-friendly.

I have (freely) updated many times, and all versions have been excellent.

The current version is 5.1.0

Zonealarm might give some troubles if you use a home network (although I didn't experience any) and you won't be able to run your own mailserver or gameserver or internet server. Also it might be difficult to uninstall, and need reinstall after certain OS updates.

The only problem I have with it: if I phone in to my work, the remote side tries to start a program, and the firewall doesn't allow that, so I can't log in. Luckily the program has a shutdown option, which I have to use then, so it doesn't really matter.
The only problem my son has with it: after an update to Warcraft, the firewall again ask permission to let it use Internet, but the game hides the dialog window and the taskbar rather effectively, so it's difficult to answer yes.

However, for blocking unwanted incoming traffic XP has a built-in firewall. It's good enough already, and the version on SP2 (to be released for XP Pro quite soon) is still better. No need for a second one, I should say (but I'm expecting comments).
This makes Zonealarm only useful for monitoring which programs on your computer try to connect to the net. That's useful indeed, but not really high-priority on the security side.

Thanks for all the replies on this issue !
I still feel "iffy" about installing Zone Alarm though.
Just want more protection than the anti-virus that I have.
Maybe I should explore the option of using the XP firewall, although I was told that it wasn't that good with protection. I just don't want to screw up a good pc !!!
As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" ! LOL
Thanks again !!!!
