Question

Firestick not recognised

Mar 24, 2016 11:53PM PDT

I have just bought an amazon firestick for use on my Samsung smart tv, model: UE50H6400AKXXU. However, the tv totally fails to recognise the firestick when plugged into an HDMI port, any ideas?

I tried that already but the HDMI I need to select on the tv source set-up is still greyed out, tv just isn't seeing the firestick at all, getting frustrated now...lol

Answer
Test the stick on other TVs

Then if it works on other TVs arrange for Samsung to fix the TV.

That is not going to happen

Samsung merely quote compatability issues!!

I have also been googling the problem and many Samsung tv owners appear to be having the same issue, not a geat advertisement for Samsung.

Then you have little choice but to return it.

The Firestick is just some HDMI source so if they are not HDMI compatible, you don't want this set.

Doh!!

The tv is HMDI compatible as it has 4 x HDMI sockets and the Amazon fire stick is a worldwide best selling HDMI product. There is a compatibility issue as noted by Samsung, who don't seem to want to be bothered in finding and issuing a resolution.

Some people who have Samsung tv's find the stick works ok for them, others have found fixes in the tv set-up to get it to recognise the stick. I have tried these fixes but they don't work for me so I am just asking if anyone has discovered another fix.

Of course I will return it if I can't get it to work, wish i had thought of that!!

Samsung has some history on this issue.

Samsungs were notorious with HDMI issues with the PS3 Slim model. Samsung back then didn't seem to have a fix. Once in a while we would use a different HDMI cable and it would clear up but not all the time. It was downright annoying and why I think the set is defective and Samsung should step up here.

Or back it goes.
