Firefox passwords

Feb 24, 2006 11:53PM PST

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to get Firefox to manually save passwords for websites. I know that on some sites I will enter a password and a popup shows asking me if I want Firefox to save the password, but on some pages the popup doesn't show. Is there any way to make Firefox show the popup ''save'' box manually? I also am interested in having IE6 for Windows do this also. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steven

Here's how with Firefox...

There are a lot of sites out there that tell your browser not to remember your username and password for security reasons, which is why you are not prompted. I don't know of a way to fix this in Internet Explorer, but there is a way in Firefox:

* Make sure the saving of passwords is enabled.
* Click here.
* Drag the box ''remember password'' (along the left column) to your bookmarks menu.
* Go to the login site.
* Enter your username and password.
* Before you press ''sign in,'' load 'remember password' from your bookmarks.
* A box will pop up telling you what it did...click OK, then ''sign in.''
* When prompted, tell Firefox to remember your password from now on.

Hope this helps,
John

Thanks John,
The info was exactly what I was looking for. I alone use my computer so the "other users" security issues brought up by some folks don't apply. Appreciate the help.
