Here is my method to install Firefox...

In reply to: Re: Firefox in background

I downloaded firefox to a folder named "My downloads" and from there doubleclick it and the install process starts and you simply follow the prompts in the install wizard.

In your case depending where you placed the download... go there and double click and the process should start as indicated above.

Firefox 1.0 is really simple to install.

Good luck! Happy

I may be of no help but it seems likely you already have Firefox or at least parts of it installed. I would do the following and start with a clean slate.

Uninstall Firefox if listed in Add/Remove programs list. In Windows Explorer delete all Mozilla or Firefox folders. If you are sufficently adept at making some registry revisions, remove all folders in two software sub-folders named Mozilla or Firefox in the registry. Be careful though and be sure to "backup" the registry first. Then delete anything else including the desktop item and download again being sure it is from the official Mozilla Firefox website.

If that procedure does not help then I am suspicious of other problems including spyware or malware.

Best of luck!

Glenn
