Firefox Flash link problems.

Oct 23, 2006 7:51PM PDT

I'm having problems opening links to .swf files in firefox. I'm running the most current version, have uninstalled it, restarted and installed again with no luck.
When I click a link to a URL ending in .swf I get the download prompt pop up asking me to open/save etc, rather than to just view it in firefox. This happened suddenly for no reason I could think of as nothing had been installed or uninstalled. I can view embedded flash without any problems or in IE. Any ideas?

If you are using

the NoScript extention, then you have to tell it to allow scripting for the website you are on.

Hope this helps.

and when you can not view the flash file click on the flash animation space where you have download now button. When you click on it, in stead of downloading the flash file, it will download the flash extension, when you are done restart the firefox, hope this is the problem you are talking about

I'll clarify
Oct 24, 2006 5:19PM PDT

I don't think I made my problem very clear due to blurting it out during my work lunch break.
I have both the flash and shockwave plugins and can view both kinds of media without any problem if they are part of a webpage. If the .swf file is linked to directly, firefox does not play it (although it used to).
Now all I get is the download prompt asking me to "open with" or "save as". (tried all possible combinations to no avail, just keeps reopening another firefox instance with the download prompt again).
Either way, I went to miniclip.com and could view and play all games with no problem, if that's what you mean.
Appreciate you trying to help Happy

I've resolved my problem by downloading the flash player uninstaller, uninstalling, then reinstalling the player. Joy!
