Firefox Extensions: What are the 'must haves' for Tom?

Dec 9, 2005 5:11AM PST

Here we go...

Fasterfox
(not the new 1.0, it is buggy, .8.1 is also available on the site). Just make sure to set to OPTIMIZED, not Turbo Charged, else you are bashing web servers.

BugMeNot
Easy insert of bugmenot data into a site with 2 clicks

MapIt
If you ever have to travel, this is 2-click directions or map

All-In-One Gestures
Just for the 'right-click drag left let go' to go back
and the opposite move to go forward

CustomizeGoogle
Remove adds, add in extra links, secure GMAIL

IE Tab
one click switch your Tab to load with IE engine WITHIN firefox Tab! Has a whitelist too.

love me some extentions!

ForecastFox
Blogger "BlogThis!"
StumbleUpon (toolbar, not extention)
ScreenGrab!
Tabbrowser Preferences (the one that you can't get rid of...)
Google SendToPhone
del.icio.us

Got any more recommendations?
Is there a good spell checker? Because I'm not a good speller.

Spell Checker
Dec 9, 2005 7:05AM PST

The Google Toolbar has a spell checker that seems to be working for me just fine (including some pages on which Spellbound never worked). I just make the google search box as small as I can (since the Firefox folks get money if I use the Google searchbar built into Firefox).

I've got:

1. Talkback. Submits crash reports to Mozilla.org

2. Adblock. This is a must have, especially if you visit web sites with many ads often. It blocks images, Flash and even Iframes.

3. Conquery. A right-click search extention

4. ShowIP.

5. ChatZilla

6. DLSR/BBR Notifier. If you post alot on BBR, this is a good add-on.

7. Yahoo! Photos upload too.

8. 1-Clcik Weather. From Weather.com I like this better than the other one who's name I forgot.

9. del.icio.us. Intergrates with the website, to easily add bookmarks to it.

10. Yahoo! Toolbar.

flashblock
Dec 12, 2005 1:23AM PST

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned adblock and flashblock. These two are great, especially if you have bandwidth issues (dial up), or just don't like annoying moving flash animation ads.

Unfortunately, flashblock tends to interfere with some animations you want, so it is a double edged sword.
