Question

Firefox browser keeps crashing

Aug 30, 2015 12:35PM PDT

I have Vista Home Basic on

Acer desktop computer

I use Mozilla Firefox browser

I use ATT yahoo webmail as email

ATT is my ISP

I have ATT uverse for just phone and computer - no TV

"I use my att yahoo email as my home page

Lately my Mozilla Firefox browser is crashing almost constantly. I hope I can get through submitting my request for help now.

I have run my free Malaware and Bit Defender and CC crap cleaner but still have problems.

When I go to YouTube the minute I try to use the right elevator scroll bar, the "connecting" stays stuck and then browser crashes.

I have tried everything and can't seem to solve problem

I get some kind of message, that I do not have right now, about a plug-in that is causing the problem.

If I just stay in my home page email program to open and send emails I am OK.

Very surprised I could access this site.

You guys have helped me two or three times before so I am crossing my fingers.

Thank you so much

Firefox still crashes when going to YouTube
Sep 2, 2015 7:51AM PDT

apparently many people have problems in Firefox with plug-in container not working.

Fixes are very unclear.

When I go to Youtube.com Firefox crashes.

I guess I need adobe flash player to access youtube.

guess I need to uninstall all adobe software but am leery of doing this.

I have tried over fifty combinations of disabling / always activate in plug-ins section of add-ons to no avail.

I have narrowed it down to Youtube and Firefox.

I do not want to go back to Internet Explorer.

I'm retired and spend a lot of my time watching old westerns on YouTube so if I cannot use YouTube with Firefox I am really messed up.

Really getting frustrated as there seems to be no sure way to pinpoint and diagnose the problem.

Everything seems to be shot-in-the-dark trial and error.

Here, it's all good.

I used Ninite to get Chrome and Firefox on my fresh Windows 10 machine and Youtube just worked.

Windows has always been twitchy. Is it time for something else? My bootable Linux DVD/USB just works.

- Do you have the latest version of Firefox?
- Do you have the latest version of Flash?
- Did you reset Firefox to its defauits? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings tells how
- Did you disable hardware accelleration in Flash?
- If you don't want to go back to IE, did you try Chrome? Or upgrade to Windows 10 and use Edge? Or don't you want to go forward to Edge either.

Most people when having the choice have to choose between viewing something they want to see in Internet Explorer and not vieuwing it because it doesn't work in Firefox, prefer the first, which makes some sense because if they set the browser to full-screen mode they don't even see the difference.
Other people seem to prefer the second option and be "messed up", angry and annoyed.
I wonder why.

3 days ago. Chrome to block "flash"
Sep 4, 2015 4:23AM PDT
http://fortune.com/2015/09/01/google-chrome-flash-ads/

Flash ads will be paused by default, and advertisers just have to hope users will voluntarily decide to play them.

Internet ads that use Adobe Flash will be blocked on Google Chrome as of Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Google has chosen to do this because Flash technology increases page-loading times and kills battery more quickly, overall decreasing the quality of the Chrome experience. The Flash ads will still be available, but users will have to click on them to get them to play.

In the first quarter of 2015, Chrome displayed over a third of Flash ads, according to data collected by Sizmek, an ad management technology firm. This move by the company will likely persuade advertisers to stop using Flash technology altogether.

Both Google and the Interactive Advertising Bureau suggest HTML5 technology as an alternative. It provides similar functionality, but with a more efficient performance.
