Firefox 64.0 is broken

Since the update to Firefox 64.0 yesterday, downloads are extremely slow and the browser becomes painfully slow and freezes at times then un-freezes only while downloading. I have over 10GB of RAM free when this happens and one of the cores on my i5 2.8Ghz goes to 100% and switches cores. I have refreshed Firefox which didn't help at all. Chromium and Waterfox work fine. I contacted Mozilla about this and they are useless as usually. I am using MX-17.1 Linux. Does anyone know the fix to this goof up by Mozilla?

Actually I just installed Firefox 64.0 ESR version and everything works fine now. Apparently there is something wrong with the regular version.
