I use Firefox for a browser and have a problem with it "timing out" on me a lot. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it. judithzu@psnw.com

You have the right idea, asking for help but please edit your request and remove your email address. It is an easy pick for malicious email.

I can't say for sure but my guess is Firefox isn't timing out but it's either the website you are trying to visit or your internet provider. When does this happen, what are the circumstances? What's your system setup? Please be very specific.

Could be a lot of things

Could be spyware you've picked up while using IE, could be bad network settings, could be a bad router at your ISP (or your ISP's ISP (i.e. the backbone)), could be a bad router somewhere along the path you take to get to a site, it could be slow DNS servers, the server for the site you want may be down or clogged, the list goes on.

The one thing they all have in common, is that it's nothing to do with the browser, and PROBABLY nothing on your end. Meaning there's nothing you can do to fix it.
