General discussion

FireFox 1.0.1

Mar 20, 2005 7:13PM PST

I just downloaded the firefox web browser, and I'm REALLY liking the tabbed browsing, but I have one issue:

Everytime I try to open certain links, I get a message that says that it cannot open because SSL is disabled. How do I fix this because this happens when I try to open my mail in hotmail, and I cannot get to it!

Also, what Plugins will I need? When I came here, the banner at the top of the cnet.com homepage did not load? It had a box with three different colored shapes...

Thanks to all!

Try this;
Mar 20, 2005 10:30PM PST

In FireFox, goto Tools > Options, then click the Advance icon, then the Security section.

Place a tick in SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0

I would also have said place a tick in SSL 2.0, but I have read recently that this is not very secure.

Close down the browser, re-open it, and see if that works.

Good luck,

Mark

Firefox SSL Problem
May 23, 2005 7:02AM PDT

I finally found a solution to the problem that I thought it is best I share with someone. There is a file in your cert8.db

C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[8 random char].default

Delete off the file call cert8.db
If you like to be cautious, try to move it somewhere else. And that should solve the problem.

Took me 10 days to find this solution and they aren't documented anywhere on the net where Google would index it.
