Still running
Feb 7, 2006 2:58PM PST

If you happen to be using the Firefox Preloader, you will need to turn it off.

If not, try looking in your services (Ctrl + Alt + Del), click on Processes and scroll down the list and see if Firefox is running, if it is, you will need to select it and end the task.

I just done a google search for the error message in your screenshot, looks like it also may be a problem with profiles. If so, you will probably want to uninstall Firefox and then BEFORE you reinstall, delete the Firefox folder, do a Disk Cleanup (use CCLeaner) and try it again.

Firefox corruption...
Feb 8, 2006 2:40AM PST

Older versions (pre-1.5) of Firefox had some issues with that and I experienced it enough myself. The problem was that the user profile would become corrupt, leaving Firefox to hang in a limbo somewhere between running and not running. (You can verify this by checking for firefox.exe under processes in the Task Manager.) I'd suggest uninstalling Firefox, backing up your bookmarks, deleting your profile, and reinstalling the latest version as Andy suggested. For detailed instructions, click here.

Hope this helps,
John
