Question

Finding Windows 7 drivers for an ASUS N76VJ?

Jun 20, 2013 4:16PM PDT

I just purchased an ASUS N76VJ laptop, which only ships with Windows 8, an operating system which I'm not interested in using. I was able to find tutorials on installing Windows 7 and running that instead, and have been mostly successful in doing so. However, I'm having trouble finding some of the drivers - ASUS doesn't support backwards compatibility and has been unwilling and unable to help me determine which drivers I need to properly configure the machine. I've been able to track down some of the drivers I need by searching for drivers by individual components, but I haven't always gotten compatible versions, and have generated one blue screen of death while trying to update. The Windows 7 driver collection on the ASUS website is mostly for parts that aren't in the N76VJ.

I have wireless and USB functionality, and the computer seems to be running well, but there are some components like function keys which aren't working yet.

I'm not sure what I'm missing, and I'm not sure how to check. Any ideas?

Thanks!

That's handled by an application, not by a driver. Search for the application that does it on comparable Windows 7 laptops from Asus.

The program I found was listed as a driver, but it doesn't matter - I did find it. Thanks for the suggestion.
