Question

Finding malicious files

by Tmurphz Aug 31, 2015 9:27PM PDT

Hey everyone decided to try these forums for the first time. I am wondering how you would find a malicious file. My situation is I downloaded something and it pretty much crashed my modem. I know where the file was saved and deleted it, however, the problem persisted. I got a new modem from my local internet provider for free (pretty stoked) but when I hardwired my computer to it, it slowed that modem down from 20 mbps to 2 mbps. So I disconnected the computer in every way from the internet, reset the modem, and it's fine now, I am currently performing a system reset (windows 10) on my computer, but I had taken some files out to save preferences for a game(World of Warcraft). The folders are addons and ***. This is where the file was installed (and deleted) from. So I was wondering if there is a way to locate, scan or better yet, manually remove them from these files before putting them back on the computer to prevent this problem from happening again. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, Tmurphz
