Question

Finding IP adresses for different interfaces on a setup.

Oct 5, 2016 2:01PM PDT

I had a diagram drawn out, but I couldn't post it. So I'm trying to better understand something for class, we're going to be given a simulation in netlab where we need to configure a router to 2 PC's in command line, and then point for connectivity. He'll be issuing us an IP similar to 193.168.2.0 with a mask of /24-30. I'm having difficulty understanding how to come up with the correct IP addresses to assign to each of the 4 interfaces. In this instance, fa0 at PC1, fa0/0 at the Routers left side, fa0 at PC2, and fa0/1 at the right side of the Router. In previous packet tracer activities I've assigned IP's to interfaces like fa0/0 before by using the command "int fa0/0" followed by "IP add 192.168.2.X 255.255.255.XXX". Just for example. Would you address an interface like fa0 the same way? "int fa0"? I'm really just trying to grasp this, and any help or even a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks
