I would like to find the image that windows uses for its
ColorDialog . Anyone know the name of this image ?

I think you meant the Cross Hairs area.

If you've been around you know that is not a static image. Change your displays color depth to 16, 256 and such colors and that image dynamically changes to the display's capability.

Again, it looks to be created by code, not by a bitmap.
