Do you think that the problem you had with your model phone couldalso happen on other phones (or similar stuff) because of the Cingular propriety software? Just wondering. My phone freezes sometimes to and I could just throw it across the room.
For those of you that have read through the numerous posts regarding the infinite scrolling problems, phone freezes, voice tags not working, and unlock the keyguard feature, which I have experienced first hand, at last I have a solution for you. In another forum that goes over the problems associated with the Nokia 6230, someone suggested that the problem had to do with the Cingular proprietary software conflicting with the Nokia Operating System. This made sense to me, and in fact I did more research and concluded that this was not a NOKIA software problem, but rather a Cingular/Nokia software compatability problem.
Cingular puts their own proprietary software on the unit for finanicial purposes and to some degree inhibits the full functionality of the phone.
After going through several Cingular Nokia 6230 phones. Operating system version 5.34. Each exhibited the scrolling problem, voice tags not working, phone freeze, and inability to unlock the keyguard feature, I became quite fed up. I went on ebay and found an UNBRANDED not modified by Cingular, Nokia 6230 phone. The seller had a brand new phone from another US carrier Cellular One. The unit did NOT have any proprietary software, just the Nokia Operating System version 5.34. THIS WORKS LIKE A CHARM. No problems.
My advice is that if you own a Cingular version of this phone and experience problems please get the firmware flashed to the original Nokia OS. I'm not sure who does this, but I think when you send the phone into Nokia, they pretty much upgrade the OS and clean swipe the Cingular crap. Hope this helps. I'm on day 43 and loving it!!! This phone rocks and is well worth the trouble.
