Finally got Wiselink Pro Working

Dec 2, 2008 7:06AM PST

Hi all Samsung people

I just bought a LA46A950 and have been trying to get the WiseLink working properly.
I had a 500gb harddrive, which i thought i would use for my movies and mp3 etc. I placed the harddrive in my computer and it was given the last drive letter after my dvd burner(so c: drive is my windows partition, then my dvd burner is d: drive, then the new drive with my movies and mp3 is e: drive)
I installed Samsung PC Share Manager and told it to share the folders MP3 and MOVIES on my new harddrive(E: drive). When i told it to 'Set Change State', my dvd burner started making a alful noise while the information was being put together. I tried wiselink on my TV and the only files showing was in 'My Documents', not any information on my new harddrive, if i went to music or the movies, nothing was showing.
I tried the new version of Share Manager(1.2 to 1.4.2) and many other things, but nothing was working
Because i was running out of things to try, i tried changing my drive letter of my new harddrive(eHappy to before my burner(d:), so i went to Administrative Tools and changed my Dvd Burner drive letter to (f:), then changed my new harddrive(e:), to d: drive, and then once again changed my dvd burner back to e: dive(just so it look clean). So now i have c: drive as Windows, D: drive as new hardrive(mp3 and movies) and the dvd burner as e: drive.
And guess what, there is no alful noise when i 'Set Change State' and the mp3's and movies are now showing on my TV

Glennh70,

Thanks for posting your findings here. I'm not sure what would cause your hardware to make a noise - I'm really left scratching my head on that one.

But regardless, I'll put your post in my favorites so that other users may benefit from this information.

Welcome to the forum!

very similar problem with PC Share Manager
Dec 6, 2008 6:54AM PST

I have a very similar problem with PC Share Manager...with the exception of the noise issue. In my PC, I have my C drive with windows, a dvd drive, cdrw, sd reader, cf reader, etc... then finally, a recently added internal hard drive assigned drive letter "L" that contains all my music, videos, etc...

Unfortunately, PC Share Manager will not honor indexing (set changed state) anything on my drive "L" however, if I copy the content to drive C, then the "set changed state" works perfectly.

Given your previous post, it is almost as though PC Share Manager is hard coded to not look at anything other than drive C (and D?). For me, this is a very painful bug...
