represented like that - makes no sense. I bought my iMac - then later, bought and installed FCP... no big deal - just feeding discs during the install like any other large application install.
If you are still a student, there is a FCP student discount - but if it is anything like the past, the FCP bought under the student program is not "upgradeable"... though I bought Final Cut Studio (with FCP 5.1) and via the Apple update feature, it is now at 5.1.4... I just think I am not allowed to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2... which is OK with me at this point...
You can also get a few $ off a Mac - again, if you are still a student... The catch is that your school's supposed to be registered... It is worth a shot:

Regular Apple Authorized retailers are not allowed to sell at the educational discount... campus bookstore or direct from Apple, I *think*.
i want to buy the the iMac and want to get final cut pro as well. which is pricey.
when i went to the apple store, the clerk went into huge detail about how i had to have final cut pro installed on the computer at the mfg co. on and on. so since i didn't have 2700 right then i opted to wait.
later i was in the midwest and happened into a CompuServ store and they told me that was a bunch of bs. that i could get them (the computer and fcp )separately; download fcp later.
why all this hogwash? getting a new computer is a huge deal for me. i've been in film school and was taught on the Avid Media Composer, blah blah..blah. on a very tight budget.
any feedback, any, will be appreciated.
