Question

Filtering FOLDERS in Windows 7

Jan 7, 2014 11:47AM PST

Windows now has some rudimentary methods to filter folders, however, from what I can tell they are too restrictive. An example of what I'd like to do is set up a filter to show only folders IN MY CURRENT FOLDER VIEW where the folder name contains L550 (i.e. not filter sub folders within the folders of the current view). Is this something that can be done with Windows 7? If not, is there a 3rd party add-on or stand-alone replacement that can perform this task. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance. Pat

I made a folder that had shortcuts to my selected folders. Pretty basic Windows skills and no, I've yet to see such an app.

Filtering Folders in Windows 7
Jan 7, 2014 9:17PM PST

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the suggestion and I do the same thing for folders that are somewhat static. If I add folders I simply update my shortcuts. However, the folders I'm dealing with are very dynamic, adding and changing almost daily. Therefore, it's not really practical to use shortcuts for this group since I'd be updating them so much. I did find something that is close to what I need, QTToolbar. However, it filters on sub folders too, which I don't want. Thanks

Then you may want to code it up.
