Film Mode greyed out

by sdrmccarthy / February 15, 2011 8:58 PM PST

Hi Everyone,

I just bought my first Samsung (previously had a panasonic) and I'm trying to get the most out of the Blu Ray capabilities via my PS3.

On my previous TV is had a 24p on or off function. When it was off is was better than DVD but not amazing. When it was on it was amazing but there was a lot of juttering since it was only capable of 60h.

So now I bought a Samsung in the hopes of getting a better experience and to be honest it's only giving me what my previous TV had in the 24p off setting.

I'm wondering, do I need to have the "Film Mode" on Auto to get the most out of Blu Ray? For some reason it's greyed out on mine.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it's a Series 6 LCD.

Is the PS3 set to send a 24p signal? One way to find out is to press the INFO button on your remote, which will allow you to see the incoming resolution and Hz rating. If you're not getting 24 Hz, it may be that you need to set the PlayStation to send the 24 Hz signal to the television in the game console's menu.
